One our way home from school one sunny afternoon Aubrey tells me that she has a new student in her class. I ask the usual questions...
"What's his name?"
"John", she tells me (I changed the name. Don't want the FBI, CIA, or NRA don't come after me!).
"And guess what mom?"
"What Aubrey?"
"His head is all bald except for a long little pony tail in the back of his head!"
Also know as a rat tail I am thinking to myself, "Really?" I say to her.
"Yes Mom! And he isn't even a China Man!"
Oh Lord! There it is! The punch line to our little conversation!
"He sounds like a great kid Aubrey. I'm sure you will be a great friend to him!"
Wonder what the walk home tomorrow will bring?

Ella VS Mom's Razor part 2
The following morning, I went to wake Ella up for school. As she is getting up from her bed she remembers what she did last night and touches the spot on her head. Yep, still bald.
She sniffles a little and asks me if she has to go to school. I tell her "heck yes!" and send her to go to the bathroom and get dressed.
When she comes out of the bathroom she says to me, "Mom, what the heck to you use that razor for anyways and why does your hair always look nice?"
I say to her "I use the razor on my legs and pits so my pits don't look like Daddy's."
"OHHHH!" She says, "That's a much 'gooder' idea!"
I promptly went to the bathroom and hid all the razors now that that seed has been planted.

Ella VS Mom's Razor
Today in while showering Ella decided to play with mom's razor.
Now before you go thinking I'm a careless mother, let me explain that the razor is up high out of easy reach. This kid had to make a decision to climb up, reach high, and then play with the razor. Clearly it was premeditated.
After her shower was over (we set the timer in the shower as not to be raising prune children) she turned the water off, sang loudly, got dressed, put her dirty clothes in the hamper, and came out to watch one last show before bedtime.
That's when I spotted it. A BALD spot on the side of her head!! "Ella what did you do to your hair?" "Nothing mom, I was showering and I fell and my hair must have fallen out..." After inspecting the bald spot I notice that it looks like she has shaved it.
We go into the bathroom and inspect the shower. I notice hair sticking out of my razor. Hummm.... "Ella did you use my razor?" A hesitant "Yes mom" escapes her. Then I showed her in the mirror what she had done. "I'M NOT BEAUTIFUL ANYMORE!:" is what she cries. Poor girl cried for about 20 minutes.
Luckily we can comb it into a pony tail and it's not too noticeable.
Like my mom use to say to me -- " Thank God hair isn't permanent!"

Scooting
Yesterday the kids and I walked to the park. The girls rode their scooters and I carried Ethan in his pack. On our way back from the park Aubrey and Ella decided to switch scooters. Aubrey has a blue razor and Ella has a princess Huffy scooter with three wheels. After testing out Aubrey scooter Ella decided that she is far too advanced for her "baby scooter" and she "NEEDS!" a "big kid" scooter. I told her I agreed but that I needed her to scoot her "baby scooter" home. I told her to give her "scooter one last scoot".
We kept making or way home. The all of the sudden Ella is walking beside me with no scooter. "Ella, where is your scooter?" I spotted it a block away. "Mom, I scooted all the scoot out of my scooter"....
She truly is my stubborn child because she went back and got the scooter and carried it all the way home.
I think we will be buying a "big kid" scooter very soon for her.

A Weekend of Ella-isms
Friday:
While driving the girls to school in the morning Aubrey was telling us about a dance she made up called "The Flying Chicken". Ella piped up from the back seat and said "Chickens are a flightless bird that live in a coop". She said it just like she was reading it from an encyclopedia. Aubrey just stared at me waiting for me to interject... I had NOTHING.
Saturday:
I was explaining to Ella that I couldn't find an item at the store. She tells me "Just use the dot coms mom... you know, .com"... OH BROTHER!
Sunday:
"Mom, can you Netflix Sex-er-tariat for us..." LOL!
Today:
Ella was wearing her favorite dress. I asked her if she was going to wear her favorite sparkle Hello Kitty shoes with it. "No mom. It isn't sunny out. You only wear your sparkles when it's sunny out." Well OK then.

Yesterday Morning
I'm awake, I'm up. Coffee flowing through the veins. Lunches are packed. Backpacks are ready. Dogs are outside.
It is time to go get Ethan dressed and ready. I walk back to the bedrooms and am surprised by Aubrey who is up and dressed. Her hair is done nicely and she is looking great! She is ready for school! AWESOME!
Back to Ethan. I get start to get him dressed and ready for his day. He starts smiling at me and cooing. Nothing is sweeter than a little babe smiling and cooing at you in the morning. FANTASTIC!
Can this morning get any better?
Time to get Ella up. I go into her room and turn the light on. No movement. I walk over and take the covers off of her. She rolls around unhappily. Finally she gets out of bed. What does she say to me? "Mommy, I think I need a latte...." OH BROTHER!
Get behind me Ella, the line starts here!

Hola
I think I am a pretty good mom. My kids know not to talk to strangers. Now, weather or not they listen to me is always another story...
Lately, Aubrey (my 7 year old) has taken to saying "Hola!" to anyone who looks like they might speak Spanish. WHY?! It is usually a short conversation. The person she is saying "Hola" to usually thinks it's cute and they rattle off something to her is Spanish....She of course has no idea what the person is saying and shrinks in embarrassment. Does this embarrassment stop her... NO!
The thing that I don't understand is why on earth it's ok to say "Hola" to Spanish speaking persons, but she knows (or chooses) not to say "Hello" to anyone else... Maybe she thinks that I have no idea what "Hola" means?
"Hola" Aubrey, Mom's onto you....
